Q: What is a mission trip?
A: A mission-trip leader will coordinate all aspects and prepare each of the missionaries for the incredible
experience. These trips are open to anyone, and every faith denomination, and NO prior experience is needed.
In fact, the overwhelming majority of missionaries are those who have never tried anything like this before.
Regardless of the level of experience, each person receives a tremendous gift of peace and fulfillment for having
stepped outside their "comfort zone" and followed God's call.
Q: Is there an age limit for missionaries?
A: The youngest age is 13 and must travel with a parent or legal guardian. Older minors traveling without
parents must be chaperoned by a responsible adult for the duration of the trip. Our oldest missionaries so far,
have been in their 70’s and did very well. There is something to do for everyone, no matter what age.
Q: What are the kids like?
A: A good majority of them cannot speak like we are used to but they usually are able to communicate by
other means. Many have twisted and deformed limbs and are confined to a wheelchair, bed, or crib. However,
there are some children that are VERY mobile and will not hesitate to run up and greet you with a hug.
Q: What will the missionaries be doing?
A: We specifically serve the Mustard Seed ministries already established. Depending on the group’s skills,
the daily activities of each trip differ slightly. However, everyday includes daily mass, rosary prayer, three meals,
physical labor, and personal time with the children. While the purpose of the mission is to benefit the children, the
activities vary depending on the needs of MSC at that particular time. Sometimes the daily activity may focus on
painting murals, houses, or even children's faces. Sometimes it will include hammering wall boards and cutting framing
boards. Sometimes it will include pulling weeds and cleaning bathrooms. Whatever the project, you can be assured
its rewarding because you're doing it solely for the benefit of those in need. All groups are encouraged to interact
and play with the children as often as possible. For the children, this human interaction is more important to the
mission of MSC than finishing a project.
Q: Is it safe for the Missionaries to go to Jamaica?
A: Yes, Jamaica is safe, but as with any other city they will need to exercise common sense and caution when
outside the MSC facilities. When in Jamaica, they will always be with the group and easily recognized as part of MSC.
Both of these things add to their safety. MSC provides one or two security personnel and a driver to be with the group at all times.
Q: Where can I learn more about MSC?
